Kunal Naval Sinha

Kunal Naval Sinha is an Indian writer, director, lyricist and composer, and the founder of the production house 1Number Movies.

A History (Hons.) graduate from the University of Delhi, he went on to study theatre and acting and took a diploma in Acting from the Himachal Cultural Theatre and Research Institute, Mandi. It was there that his interest in writing, direction and story-telling took hold.

From then on he travelled the length and breadth of the country before moving to Mumbai, where he worked as a writer and assistant director. He has worked with filmmakers and ad-makers including Anurag Basu, Rajesh Krishnan, Gajraj Rao and Vijay Maurya.

His own work runs from short films — I Lost My Kite, Suggest Me a Name — through documentaries such as Education.0km, The Magadh Umpire, The Teacher, The Yuva and The Medal Man, to commercial films for Lakhani Footwear, Qiya Jewellers, Sagarmal & Sons Jewellers, Pramod Laddoo, Kisu Shop and Mongiya Sariya, and two national election campaign films.

Tarengan, released in August 2025, is his debut feature film as a director. He wrote its story, screenplay, dialogue and lyrics, and composed the music with Brinci Bohra and Manu Verma.
